This past week, I joined my friend, Kelly, at her office for their Weight Watchers at work program. Her office is right around the corner from my office, so it's easy to take lunch break and head over for a lunch time meeting. I've also gotten several other friends at RL to join me. It's a huge savings to do WW through your office, but you have to have enough people to make it worth while. We had WW at work at my office a couple of years ago, but we could never get enough people to come and make it work. I think our incentives were all wrong. Most companies agree to pay you back your WW fees if you make it to goal--because, let's be honest, if you are healthier, their insurance is better. Our incentives only offered the discount (and made it sound like they were paying for it, but now I know that your discount comes through the amount of people you have sign up. That's neither here nor there, but knowledge is power.
This past week also required me to change my weigh-in day from Saturday to Thursday. I was a little worried about this change because a Thursday weigh-in means you have the weekend ahead of you. A Saturday weigh-in required me to think about what I was going to eat on Friday. I have had a Thursday weigh-in day before, and honestly, I enjoyed it because it took the pressure off Friday night and the theory I had of working out before the meeting and going to weigh-in on an empty stomach in work out clothes. When you are losing weight, you do what you can to make every weigh-in beneficial to keep you motivated.
Thursday morning, I knew it was going to be a cotton shirt/leggings day. It's the closest thing I have to work out clothes. And boy was I worried my long sleeve Cabi shirt was on the "heavy" side. I would love to tell you I'm making this up, because as I type it, I see how insane this is. I decided to go with it. It's got the length I need to pull off leggings at work.
I was pleasantly surprised to be down -1.8. That removed the 1.6 increase from last week plus a loss of .2. All after having eaten breakfast and not working out before weigh-in. So, needless to say, I'm still motivated.
Today, I thought I would share some of my favorite go-to foods and snacks. Every week, I have more and more people ask me for tips and tricks to weight watchers. I am happy to oblige, too. Nothing makes me happier than to share my knowledge with others and help them in their journey to be healthier. So here goes:
Breakfast almost every day is my version of an Egg McMuffin--Laurie Style. That's 2 eggs, scrambled with Everything But the Bagel spice from Trader Joe's, 1/4 cup of shredded cheese on a Thomas' Lite English Muffin. 6 Freestyle SP. I even ate this on weigh-in day. My coffee has splenda and sugarfree creamer in it = ZERO points.
And don't forget the holy grail....the rotisserie chicken. I buy one every weekend at Costco and eat on it all week. Just the white meat because it's zero points. It lasts all week and is the best bang for your buck as a snack, or add to your salad at lunch or dinner. A rotisserie chicken is very useful in the kitchen!

Snack time includes No Sugar Added DelMonte mixed fruit or diced peaches. Pair this with a Premier Protein shake for a perfect 2 point snack.
Got a hankering for chocolate? Weight Watchers Chocolate Caramel bars are my #1, but I also like the Mint Cookie and the Pretzel bars. All 2 points.
Since Freestyle now made black beans and corn zero points, I whipped up a mix with a green pepper and apple cider vinegar. I add this to my salad instead of cheese now. This allows me to only count the dressing for those meals.
The greatest new item in my daily eating is Plain, non-fat, Greek yogurt. ZERO points. There are a lot of options in this container and I intend of try them all.
You can use it as sour cream or mix it up with your Ranch packet and 2 - 3 TBS of 2% milk for a 0-1 point ranch dressing/dip--reduce the milk. Dip your veggies guilt-free.
Sunday morning I made an 8 point cheesecake --that's 8 points for the entire dish. That dish is a full size pie plate. I can't wait to make a key lime version, a chocolate version. This may be the dessert I have dreamed of! It certainly looked and smelled like a real cheesecake. Just add a little fruit drizzle from your favorite sugarfree jelly (I love Smuckers Strawberry and Orange Marlmelade).
You can make bread with it by mixing it with self-rising flour. I've tried the 1 point Churo Bites. They were perfect and yummy! I need to figure out packaging because the cinnamon and splenda dusting melted into them in the plastic baggie leaving them a little soggy. There are a lot of options in this container and I intend of try them all.
What are your favorite snacks and tips to get the scale moving? I know one of my favorite tips is EXERCISE. You can get a lot more moving the more you move. Next week, what works for me when working out.
