WW Check-In: November Goals

November turned out to be quite a successful month for me.  I have been focused on my goals and though not all of them were met, it has given me the determination to set more goals to crush for December.

My November Goals were:
  • Lose 5 Pounds - CHECK.  I lost 5.8.
  • Run 3 Days a Week - CHECK - My Run Disney training started at the end of October and I have been consistently running Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday ever since.
  • HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Class 1 Day a Week - CHECK -  I attribute my weight loss success this month to the addition of this class, along with my running, that has allowed me to trim down.  It's the best way to burn fat.  This type of work out is also know as Cross Fit, but without the tires and pull-ups and crazy stuff.  I love it!!
  • Weight Training Once a Week - I just started this last week, but I'm giving myself a CHECK for starting.
  • Yoga Once a Week - Fail.  I have yet to begin practicing yoga regularly, but with my longer runs for December I definitely need to make room for it.

I'm not sure when my exercise started kicking in, but I am fairly certain it has been in November.  You can't out-RUN a bad diet.  You can counter-balance calories, but the bottom line is when you eat too much of the bad stuff, working out will only get you so far.  I know this to be true, but it doesn't stop me from trying to balance my over indulgence with a little extra mileage.  After an all-time high in daily points on Thanksgiving (79 points was my best guesstimate), I somehow managed to squeak out a one pound loss this week. I truly believe that the 5K (3.2 miles) I ran on the treadmill helped me get that loss instead of a maintain.   I would have taken either, but a loss is great news.

On Saturday, I had my first "long" run of training.  5 miles.  And honestly, this is the shortest distance I have for all of December and Its a little intimidating.  I was thrilled to finish 5 miles in just over an hour.  Not too fast, but not too slow.  Plus my neighborhood is hella-hilly.  I tried to run up as much as I could.  Running up the hills increases endurance while running down them increases my speed (thank you, Gravity).  I also like hilly runs because when I go run the Half in February it will be predominately flat through Disney.  Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of hills  in the parks and exit ramps to run up and down, but the roads....they're flat.   I also want to give a shout out to my new Brooks Levitates.....I love them!  They have been great on the treadmill, but even better on the road.

All in all, I think November was successful for me on the food and fitness level.  Now it's time to begin focusing on December and all that the holidays bring to muck up the healthy routine!
