WW Check-In: Hitting the Reset Botton

You know how sometimes a small cheat on your diet can turn into a week long (or two weeks) free-for-all?  October has been that way for me.  It all started with my sister's 40th birthday.  In order to surprise her, we had to do "fake" gatherings to make her think that was all she was getting.  I think when all was said and done, she had more celebrations than anyone I know turning 40.  And they were all FUN and full of food and beverage.

The next week was hard to get back on track, but I managed to keep it in the road.  I didn't gain, but I also didn't go to an official weigh-in because I was working Furniture Market.  Taking a couple of days off to work 4 days of market to help pay for my Disney Annual Pass for next year was worth it.  What this also meant is that I was going to work 12 days straight before another day off.  It also meant for 4 days I was eating what they served (though I always tried to make healthy choices).  By this past Thursday, I was eating 3 fresh spring rolls, Pranang Chicken and rice for dinner.  And Friday, I had all but given up.  I had a bagel for breakfast--with cream cheese--in my morning meeting.  Don't mind that I had already had my Fiber One coffee cake and a protein shake.  Lunch, I managed to stick to healthy at Chick-fil-A--my usual, a number 6, 8 count grilled nuggets with a side salad with Chili Lime dressing.  Dinner, well, by dinner time I had decided I needed to press the reset button.  I couldn't decide if I wanted a cheeseburger or pizza and ended up, of all places, at the Cracker Barrel for 'Momma's Breakfast' for dinner.  That's 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, and three huge pancakes for those keeping score at home.  I didn't even bother to keep score, I mean points, for this because Saturday was judgement day, I mean weigh-in day, and I had made the decision to hit the re-set button.

I've spent the last three months just getting 10 pounds off.  It has fluctuated between and 10 and 12, but I think the average is 10.  I'm down a size and that feels great!  In the grand scheme, 10 pounds is NOT a lot for 3 months, but I have never felt deprived.  I've been on vacation, met friends for drinks after work, and eaten birthday cake.  And this brings me full circle.  I've had people ask, "what diet are you doing?"  I know exactly why I do Weight Watchers.  I do it because it's livable for me.  I can't (or won't) live on protein shakes or prepackaged food, or packed is specified sized Tupperware and 30 minute, high intensity, daily workouts.  I don't want to live Whole 30 or Keto--I like junk food sometimes and with WW, I can have it, I just have to COUNT it.  To me, WW is a lifestyle change.  It has shown me how much I WAS eating versus what I need to eat to be healthy and lose some weight.  The first week amazed me at how much I was eating.  And no wonder, my body showed every ounce of it.

I was only up 1.4 pounds on Saturday. It just goes to show that walking a lot does help.  I also graced the doors of my gym that I hadn't seen since my half marathon last April.  I HIT the reset button.  I'm back on plan and started training for my next half-marathon.  I am ready to take on the world.  At least until Halloween when there will be candy everywhere, but I do go walk all over the place with the kids while they collect candy.  I know chocolate is my weakness, but I am stronger.
