Free Falling

Cooler weather arrived over the weekend in North Carolina.  A welcome change to the 85+ temps we've seen the last few weeks.  Everywhere I went over the weekend, I swore I could smell Pumpkin Spice something.  I'm not a giddy school girl when it comes to Pumpkin Spice either.  Its fine, but I'm not lose-my-mind over it.  My favorite part about Fall is the smell of the leaves and the bond fires and the fleece pullovers.  I've already got two pumpkins and two giant dead mums on my porch.  There is something cozy about fall that warms the heart, though.

This week is off to raving lunacy.....sniper opening fire on concert goers in Vegas.  I had several friends in attendance and am glad to hear only minor injury.  My heart and prayers are with everyone in Vegas as they try to comprehend what has taken place and how to move forward.  Outdoor concerts will never be the same.

October not only rushes in Fall, but also the Fall International Home Furnishings Market in High Point.  Anything and everything you cold ever imagine for your home will be shown at this market.  The entire city vibe increase exponentially and with the creative heart beating along with all the designers, buyers, and sales reps moving along from showroom to showroom.  Working market feeds my creativity and gets the energy flowing for me.  I'll be in the Powell showroom Saturday through Tuesday.  If you're out and about at market.  Come by and say hello.

Yesterday, we learned that the iconic Tom Petty suffered a heart attack on Sunday evening.  At the time of this publication, he was clinging to life after being removed from life support.  Petty's Southern Accents album graced my door, with the assistance of Columbia House Records, when I was 15.  He certainly embraced the MTV-era full-on with the classic Don't Come Around Here No More set to Alice in Wonderland.  Tom played the Mad Hatter, of course. Then there was Full Moon Fever.  It was the soundtrack to my life the Summer of 1989.  We sang more Tom Petty that summer in the Marley kitchen than I care to remember.  What a fabulous artist.  Tom Petty, they are saying it's only a matter of time.  Don't back down.

Finally....HAPPY 40TH TO MY SISTER, HOLLIS!

  1. My mini friend Marilyn Martin graced the album (at least on Don't Come Around Here No More) on incredible backing and harmony vocals. Love this song so much. Love you too MM and LM.
